Discover the Journey of Faith to the Four Holy Places of Buddhism

To welcome the Buddhist Era 2569, Tour Eurng Luang under Thai Airways invites all devoted travelers to embark on a sacred pilgrimage to the most revered sites in Buddhism — the Four Holy Places of Buddhism, destinations of faith that Buddhists around the world aspire to visit at least once in their lifetime.

Begin the journey in Bodh Gaya, India, where the Buddha attained Enlightenment beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree. Here, he practiced meditation and perseverance until reaching the supreme truth. Revered as the first of the Holy Places, Bodh Gaya remains one of the most significant pilgrimage destinations in the world.

Continue to Rajgir, the former capital of the Magadha Kingdom, where the Buddha resided and delivered sermons to his close disciples. Highlights include Vulture Peak, where many teachings were expounded, and Venuvana Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery, where the Buddha delivered the historic Ovada Patimokkha to 1,250 arahants. Pay homage to the sacred Black Granite Buddha at Nalanda, a site of deep reverence.

Next, proceed to Varanasi to participate in the International Alms Offering Ceremony and visit Sarnath, the second Holy Place, where the Buddha delivered his First Sermon to the five ascetics at the Dhamek Stupa and Chaukhandi Stupa. Explore the Archaeological Museum, which preserves invaluable relics of early Buddhism.

The pilgrimage then takes you to Sravasti, the city where the Buddha spent the longest period of his life. Visit the Jetavana Monastery, the Buddha’s Gandhakuti residence, the Twin Miracle Stupa, and other revered locations, including the site believed to be where Devadatta was swallowed by the earth.

Continue to Kushinagar, the third Holy Place, where the Buddha entered Parinirvana at the Sala Grove. Pay respects at the Makutabandhana Chedi, the cremation site, and join the lamp-lighting ceremony at Wat Thai Kushinara Chalermraj, which enshrines the Buddha’s relics.

The pilgrimage concludes in Lumbini, Nepal, the final Holy Place, where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Prince Siddhartha in the Lumbini Garden. Recognized as the birthplace of Buddhism, Lumbini is revered worldwide as a sacred site of immense significance. End the journey in Kathmandu with a visit to the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal.

Throughout the journey, participants will receive Dhamma teachings from Buddhist missionary monks, enriching their understanding of the Buddha’s teachings, and enjoy authentic Thai cuisine prepared daily by Thai chefs, offering warmth and comfort in every meal.

Join Tour Eurng Luang to experience peace, strengthen your faith, and fulfill your heart with the timeless wisdom of Buddhism throughout this sacred journey.
